It is very difficult to help someone heal without first putting your hands on them. At Helm PT, your therapist will use her experienced hands instead of machines or devices to restore your normal joint mobility and muscle length in order to promote pain-free functional movement.
We perform careful joint mobilization techniques to gently stretch tight structures around your joints, easing any movement restrictions and increasing your available joint range of motion. This helps to normalize the way the surfaces of your joints glide past each other, enabling a smooth return to function.
Muscle energy techniques may also be utilized to selectively engage the muscles surrounding a stiff or misaligned joint to enhance joint flexibility and alleviate imbalances and pain in the soft tissues around the joint complex.
Other forms of manual therapy we provide include proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques to restore normal length-tension ratios and strength of selected muscle groups, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, positional distraction, and manual traction to alleviate nerve compression.
No matter which form of manual therapy you need for your specific problem, your therapist will work with you, giving you her full attention in an interactive way so you can achieve your goals with minimal discomfort.
