Manual Therapy
We use our experienced hands instead of machines or devices to restore your normal joint mobility and muscle length in order to promote pain-free functional movement. We perform a variety of manual therapy techniques including joint mobilization, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, muscle energy techniques, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, positional distraction, and forms of manual traction to alleviate nerve compression.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage is a form of soft tissue mobilization, a healing practice that is performed to reduce scar tissue restrictions, break up myofascial adhesions, and eliminate muscle spasms. Our techniques include myofascial release, soft tissue mobilization, trigger point release, cross-fiber friction massage, and sports massage for specific areas of injury.
Balance Therapy
The ability to maintain your balance is dependent on how well you’re able to maintain your posture while remaining still (static balance) and also when you’re moving through space or when the environment is moving around you (dynamic balance). Whether you’re feeling a little off-balance after a surgery that affected the accuracy of the information you receive from your joints or if you’re having problems with dizziness, we can help.
Orthopedic Therapy
The assessment and treatment of diseases, conditions, and injuries involving the muscles, bones, ligaments, fascia, and tendons of the musculoskeletal system is known as orthopedic physical therapy. At Helm PT, we can help you heal from ligament sprains, muscle strains, tendonitis, bone fractures, joint problems, and from all sorts of acute injuries, surgeries, and chronic pain syndromes.
Spinal Health
The majority of people experience at least one episode of back pain during their lives. However, the disabling effects of this pervasive problem can be mitigated by a combination of factors that include using good body mechanics, engaging in a strengthening program for core trunk musculature, and initiating a progressive low-impact aerobic exercise program.
Injury Prevention
Injuries can occur as the result of a traumatic accident outside of your control, but they may also happen after a lifetime of habits that no longer serve you. We will help you analyze your postures and movement patterns to identify and correct faulty positions that may be exerting abnormal biomechanical forces on your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones whether you’re lying down, sitting, standing, walking, working, or playing sports.
Sports Rehabilitation
Sports medicine rehabilitation is a system of managing an athletic injury so that the player can get back out onto the field quickly and without further tissue damage. This requires an understanding of sports-specific biomechanics and movement demands, the judicious application of sports massage and neuromuscular re-education techniques, strengthening key muscle groups that may be inhibited by pain, and following progressive stepping stones toward regaining the ability to return to play.
Personal Training
According to the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), the scope of practice for a NSCA-certified personal trainer (NSCA-CPT) includes designing safe and effective exercise programs and providing guidance to help clients achieve their personal health and fitness goals. Your Helm PT therapist is not only an experienced licensed physical therapist but is also a certified personal trainer.
Our comprehensive approach gets to the core of your problem instead of just treating the symptoms.
